The Smartrip Foundation

Smartrip is a travel company that uses the power of the tourism industry to help local Chilean communities prosper and protect the environment where they are located.

Over the past few years, Smartrip has generated highly favorable commercial alliances with hundreds of hotels that are committed to sustainability. Our connections have given us the opportunity to donate 20% of the company’s net revenue to The Smartrip Foundation, that works in close collaboration with the local communities who live in the surrounding areas where the hotels are located.

In this way, more than 50 social and environmental projects have been financed and more than 2,000 people have reaped the benefits, with the aim of:

More Local Crafts

Program that seeks to value the work of artisans who keep their culture alive, make their work visible and link them with the tourism value chain. Editions: Chiloé , San Pedro de Atacama, Puerto Aysen, Kawesqar (Puerto Natales)

Educational programs

That local communities, especially children and youth, raise their levels of awareness regarding the importance of caring for the environment, their heritage, traditions, culture and identity. Programs carried out: Loom Workshop for girls from the Cahuil School, School Trip, Territorial Experiences, Rapa Nui Dance Workshop.

Equipment support

Monetary contribution so that microentrepreneurs carrying local culture and identity can invest in equipment that allows them to boost their activity. Examples: Juana Quintomán Workshop, Javier Arias Rafting, My Herbs Route, Ave Fenix ​​Women’s Workshop, Carretita del Pan, Fernanda Gutierrez Leather Workshop, Evangelista Soza Workshop.

Networking programs

Give visibility and link local micro entrepreneurs with hotels and their travelers. Examples: Entrepreneurs tourist map of the Maule Costa, Terramar tourist map, Meeting between hotels and micro entrepreneurs of the Llanquihue Lake.

Environmental programs

To generate environmental awareness amongst travelers, hotels and the community in general. Examples: Reforestation with native species, Parley for the oceans Lemuy Island (Chiloé).
